WORKING OF SOLAR OVENS

These ovens are used by people all over world. Solar ovens are used some times as a cooking device at the time of necessity like lack of fuels like kerosene, LPG, coal, etc; or sometimes as a cooking device used for fun and pleasure like during camping, etc.
These ovens use sun rays as the source of power and cook the food. Solar oven works slower than the gas stoves and other equipments that run through electricity. The sun rays are reflected on the area where the food is kept for cooking, and the glass lid restricts the heat to escape from the area. This creates heat into the chamber where the food is kept and therefore the food starts to cook.
Using a solar oven saves non- renewable sources of energy, but there are certain drawbacks to its usage. Firstly, solar ovens require high maintenance as they need to be rotated in the direction of the sunrays after every 20-30 minutes, so that there is maximum exposure to the sun. Another problem attached with these is that, you cannot cook food in absence of appropriate sunlight.
